kikidismom asked:

Is it OK to pour drano or similar products down the pvc drain lines of your a/c unit to keep them clean? Also is there any reason I should not install a “T” PVC joint where the drain lines come out of the unit so that I can do this w/out having to detach the drain lines to do maintenance?

Air conditioner window unit leaking in house. why?

cgplybon asked:

Alright, I attempted to clean the drain path and I can’t see there is anything blocking it now. The A/C is doing the normal drip outside, it’s just dripping inside as well. The A/C is tilted correctly, as well. I can’t figure out why it’s still dripping in the house. Nothing seems to be frozen, I’ve checked the unit pretty well. Help!

Dave S asked:

My house is only fours years old. I use the air conditioning often in the summer time. I rarely use the heater. I regularly replace the air filters. Is there any need to call an air conditioner cleaning/servicing provider to come to my house to perform any routine service?

Genghis334 asked:

I am looking for a rating or maintenance history for the various manufacturers of heat pumps (not geothermal). I’ve checked Consumer Reports and didn’t have any luck. Doing some research online I got conflicting info (one person raves about brand X followed by some saying never buy brand X). Any info in appreciated.

Does Geothermal Heat give you money savings over Natural gas in wisconsin?

rymeat1 asked:

im thinking about purchasing a geothermal system for a home i own in northeast wisconsin. Currently you can get a natural gas furnace for the home, however ive heard Geothermal heating can cut your bills in half. Im wondering if that is typical for everywhere, or just in places that have winters around 22 degrees. It gets much colder up here than that. If anyone around wisconsin has geothermal im curious as to what their utility bills are. My house is 2000 square feet

Refrigerator Magnets Now Elevated to Fine Art Status

Andres Wellington asked:

Remember not too long ago, when refrigerator magnets were something that took a lifetime to collect. Every once in a while one would come in the mail in some type of promotional gimmick or you might be able to find some down at the five and dime. Even so, for someone to build up a respectable collection took years and what that collection contained, was a matter of sheer random luck.

Cool Custom Refrigerator Magnets

Now all that has changed and the result is that you can now be the envy of all your family of friends with a refrigerator that is completely covered in custom refrigerator magnets. Not just any magnets either, but totally cool refrigerator magnets that will leave everyone scratching their heads, wondering where you found them.

Your Last Chance

Whats more, they are now available in sets that cover a complete topic. George Bush will only be with use for a little more longer, so now is the time to get your last licks in with a set of refrigerator magnets that will have all your friends laughing at his expense. Also, this set is sure to become a classic collectors item worth millions.

Music and Pet Lovers

If you are a musician, get the “Guitars of the Gods” set that  features five of Gibson’s classic standards in full detail, including their gold top Less Paul and BB Kings “Lucile”. Cat and dog lovers also will have a “heyday” picking and choosing through all the choices that feature their favorite pets.

Christian Magnets Convert Sinners Instantly

Of course all you religious nuts out there are well taken care of as well. There is a variable cornucopia of “opiate for the masses” style religious themed refrigerator magnets that will have even the most hardened atheists speaking in tongues in no time at all. Believe it or not, kids also love refrigerator magnets and there is now a wide assortment for them as well, if you feel like including them in on all the fun.

Redsfan asked:

Would you have to supplement a newly installed geothermal system in an older home with an AC unit or heater? I was thinking about getting a system like this but live in an old home that has very poor insulation.

Can you guess which of these two house belong to the environmentalist?

R. H asked:

HOUSE # 1: A 20-room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house all heated by gas. In ONE MONTH ALONE this mansion consumes more energy than the average American household in an ENTIRE YEAR. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2,400.00 per month. In natural gas alone (which last time we checked was a fossil fuel), this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not in a northern or Midwestern “snow belt,” either. It’s in the South.

HOUSE # 2: Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university, this house incorporates every “green” feature current home construction can provide. The house contains 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on an arid high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground.
The water (usually 67 degrees F.) heats the house in winter and cools it in summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas, and it consumes 25% of the electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Flowers and shrubs native to the area blend the property into the surrounding rural landscape.

HOUSE # 1 (20 room energy guzzling mansion) is outside of Nashville, Tennessee. It is the abode of that renowned environmentalist (and filmmaker) Al Gore.

HOUSE # 2 (model eco-friendly house) is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas. Also known as “the Texas White House,” it is the private residence of the President of the United States, George W. Bush.
