It is not against the law to ask, and takes the guess work right out of play. When I walk into my local grocier, and the person behind the counter barely speaks English, I ask for a manager, take them to the side, and question the citizenship, I’ve even gone as far as insisting that a visa if there is one shown to me. It takes just a little effort on my part. If the police, and my government will not uphold my laws, I as a citizen am obligated to do so. Our police preach to us all of the time about reporting crime, and this appears to be the biggest crime in America. 20 Million Large
By doing this I not only protect myself, but I protect the real immigrants by assuring they are getting the jobs, illegals are also stealing from them. I haven’t heard much said on that issue.
Your right it doesn’t always work, but it puts the business on notice that you are checking them out. If gives the company a way to quietly fire the illegal, and hire a legal one.
